This is quite a serious issue since it involves incompetent and inadequately-coached drivers hitting the roads, posing imminent danger not only to themselves but also to others.

These licence-holder are often the cause of accidents, resulting in injuries to others, because of their bad and reckless driving. One has come across several cases of accidents being the result of the driver ignoring basic rules of driving while changing lanes, using proper indicators while braking to a halt or even while overtaking other cars.

Under the circumstances, we suggest that holders of driving licences issued by driving schools should go through a certain period of probation, during which time his driving skills can be monitored. If such licence holders are booked by the police for any traffic violation, and is seen to be committing mistakes while driving, he or she can be referred back to the Traffic Department for a re-test.

And yes, in order to implement this proposal, and for it to be effective, there is need to increase the number of police patrols, who can spot such drivers.
