The Ministry of Education and Youth (MoEY) issued a circular to this effect on Sunday. The move was aimed at respecting the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan.
The circular, copies of which will be distributed to all schools in the country, specifies that the official working hours for all schools during Ramadan will be from 8.30am to 2pm, and every period will last for 40 minutes. The daily recess time has been reduced and will be for 15 minutes only during the holy month.
The MoEY has also affirmed that the study plan will remain unchanged with regard to the subjects of study.
Meanwhile, the assistant under-secretary at the Ministry for Private Education will meet all the heads of private education in all the educational zones today.
The meeting has been called to help identify any problems faced by the schools and recommend solutions top the problems.
