The girl penned down her SOS with her name and address in Idukki district in Kerala on a piece of paper and dropped it from the window.

In the note, she said she had sold everything back home to obtain an employment visa from an agent to work for a supermarket.

The agent, however, attempted to push her into the flesh trade and locked her up, along with three other girls, in the apartment.

Moidu, an Indian working at a shop in the building, chanced upon the note and alerted 'Pravasalokham,' a charity organisation who in turn alerted the police. The den was raided, and while the Idukki girl was relieved, the other three were not in a mood to be rescued, leading to their arrest. Police officials said they would get to the man behind the scheme.

Several cases have been reported recently about girls brought into the country from India. Most of them were offered different kinds of jobs, but later forced into prostitution after their arrival in the UAE. No officials from the Indian Consulate were available for comment.
