Sharjah to have new fish market

Engineer Rashid Omran Al Owais, Head of the Technical Department at the municipality, said.

Mr Owais noted that the new projects are aimed at providing basic services to the public and improving efficiency of the workers in various departments and branches of the municipality.


One of the new projects is the construction of an administrative building for the new vegetable market and the building for the municipality's branches in the Central Region.

The designing works of the four branches were completed. One branch each in Al Madam, Al Thamid, Al Rafia and Melaiha is being constructed. Each building will house offices, meeting hall and other services.

Speaking about the fish market in Khor Fakkan, Mr Owais said that it would be constructed on an area of 729 square metres and comprises 16 shops. He said the fish market in Khor Fakkan was being constructed on an area of 729 square metres. It would include 16 outlets, having three entrances and corridors in addition to an area in its centre for cleaning and cutting of the fish.

Another significant project, according to Mr Owais, is the expansion of the Sharjah national park by adding six playgrounds, another 90,000 square metres with greenery, construction of a new mosque adjacent to another mosque for women in addition to greening an area of 32,000 square metres to be converted to play areas.

The project includes the establishment of public utilities and the introduction of other public services at the park.

Mr Owais pointed to the new Sharjah wholesale vegetables and fruit market was opened in March in the Industrial area. The market is easily accessible from the Emirates road.
