Organised by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), the exhibition showcases photographs that reflect the tradition and culture of the UAE.

Hafsa Al Mutawwa, the event organiser said, “We suggested the idea of getting together a collection of photographs of college students before DSF began in order to evaluate them before showing them to the public and I was surprised by the response. The students were very enthusiastic as we received more than 500 photographs. We were forced to exclude some because there were too many exhibits for 45 days so we selected the best 300. Every week 50 works will be exhibited.”

She added that the venue was changed to include the event in Freij Dubai at Shindagha Heritage Village which was seen as more suitable for the exhibition.

The display emphasises on the cultural and environmental aspects of the UAE and includes photographs of the sea, palm trees, traditional UAE attires, and the henna art. The art works are also a reflection of student personalities and their talents in capturing the essence of their surroundings.

“This exhibition is a chance for all students to convert their theoretical knowledge into practical know-how and it is an experience that will provide us the opportunity to develop our skills from the feedback we get from visitors and the public,” said Shehad Khalid, a second year student and one among the participants.

A separate section has also been added to the exhibition that showcases traditional male and female attires, jewellery, and accessories with the aim of educating tourists on the cultural heritage of the country.
