the National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia) and its centre for Career Guidance and Planning recently presented a programme highlighting its innovative job orientation and career guidance facilities for students about to enrol at university.

Tanmia delivered presentations entitled ‘How to derive benefits from Career Fairs’ and ‘How to utilise the services of the Centre for Career Guidance and Planning’ that have been designed by expert career counsellors, at the recent Education and Vocation Counselling Show.

The event, which took place from March 6 and will continue till tomorrow (March 11) at Expo Centre, Sharjah, was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Expo Centre Sharjah, in association with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce. The show included participants from universities and various institutes of higher education from the UAE, Asia, Europe and North America.

“The Education and Vocation Counselling Show offered students a unique opportunity to familiarise themselves with specific labour market needs in order to help them make the appropriate education course choices,” said Moza Al Serkal, Career Counsellor, Tanmia.

“Through this exhibition, we want to impress on the student community that Tanmia is fully equipped and committed to render assistance and guidance to all students wishing to pursue a successful career,” she added.

Tanmia’s Centre for Career Guidance and Planning (CCGP) had a significant presence at the show, with the support of Tanmia employment officers who provided career advice and information. Employment officers from Tanmia’s Employment Skills and Development Centre were also on hand to offer advice and information to students and job-seekers.

Tanmia took the opportunity to introduce participants to its state-of-the-art CareerGate portal, www.careergate.ae, which was set up in order to assist students seeking career information and guidance on aspects such as market specialisation and qualification requirements.

Visitors attending the Education and Vocation Counselling Show included higher education policy makers, researchers, teachers, student counsellors, young professionals interested in upgrading their skills and improving employment prospects through postgraduate or professional courses and secondary and undergraduate students keen to pursue higher education, and parents.
