The function will also witness the release of the music of Teja's upcoming film Nijam that is set to premiere internationally during the third week of April.

At a Press conference yesterday, versatile filmmaker Teja said that the entire crew of his last hit film Jayam and upcoming release Nijam had flown into Dubai and would be presented special mementoes by Chiranjeevi during the musical extravaganza.

Also present on the occasion will be filmstars Mahesh Babu of the Okkadu fame who also stars in Nijam, Uday Kiran and Nitin Reddy who will be accompanied by actress Raasi. The programme starts at 8.30pm and will continue for three and half hours with songs, dances and skits from Teja's hit movies.

The tune for the programme will be set by music director of Jayam and Nijam, R.P. Patnaik, who will belt out some of the latest Telugu chart busters. Mr Patnaik has more than 13 major Telugu musical hits to his credit.

Mr Teja said that the Telugu film industry was booming in comparison to the Hindi and the Malayalam film industries which had witnessed a slump in recent times. A cinematographer by profession, he took to film-making during the last decade but his simple yet lucid style and ability to feel the pulse of his audience catapulted him into the limelight. His first film Chithram, focusing on the social problem of teenage pregnancy, was a major hit.

"I have very little education and my initiation into the world of movies was in the early 1970s when I used to sit on the front benches of movie halls and see my favourite heroes in action. I understand the emotions of the masses well and my movies reflect my life experiences," Mr Teja told Khaleej Times.

This is the first time that Mr Teja and his entire 97-member team is appearing on stage for an overseas show and the mood at the Press conference, which was attended by all the film stars except Chiranjeevi, was upbeat.

Tickets are priced at Dh100, Dh50 and Dh25 and more than 10,000 people are expected to turn up for the show.

The event is being sponsored by Western Union Money Transfer, Marmum, Khaleej Times , Quick Photo Studio, Al Sondos Suites and Dar Al Sondos Hotel Apartments and co-sponsored by Sai Uttar Dakshin Restaurant, Our Choice restaurant, Alpha Tours and Vision Art Opticals, Gemini TV, City 101.6 FM and 2 R Events and the Arabian Concept LLC.
