On the occasion, Pakistani Consul-General Amanullah Larik praised the efforts of the Pakistani community with regard to import of right-hand drive used cars. He said that the UAE was the second home for the Pakistani community.
Mr Larik also commented on the fraternal ties between the UAE and Pakistan. Also present on the occasion was Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of Dubai Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation.
Mr Bin Sulayem announced several new facilities that were being provided to used car dealers by the government.
Mr Bin Sulayem said that Dubai right hand drive car dealers would now be provided number plates for imported cars instead of the earlier 'import licence' number plates that were being used.
The list of the top 10 importers of used cars in Dubai has been prepared by Jebel Ali FreeZone Authority.
Among the top 10 importers who received shields and certificates from Mr Larik and Mr Bin Sulayem include Muzammil Khurshid from Aziz Motors, Nida Khan from Shoji Motors, Kashif Ishtiaq from Perfect Motors, Tanvir Iqbal from Abu Musa Motors, Faraz from Ali & Ali Motors, Ghulam Mohammed from Kenya Motors, Haji Lali from Haji Lali Motors, Khalid Shaikh from M.K.
