The incident dates back to May 2006 when the accused, A. Ravendera, attacked the victim, M. Manoj, with a knife.

The victim told the Public Prosecution that the accused had first sought his help in arranging a visit visa for him so that he could find a job in the UAE. Manoj, who was living in a labour camp room provided by his contracting company, later shifted to a shared accommodation with the accused and three other persons.

On May 31, 2006, the accused reportedly consumed alcohol and started expressing his frustration over not being able to find a job. On this, the victim asked him to stop talking as the others in the room were getting disturbed.

After this, the accused left the room but he returned soon with a knife in his hand, and suddenly stabbed the victim in his stomach.

While the roommates all ran away after the stabbing, the victim managed to take the knife out of his stomach and reach the street, where he fell down.

However, the accused came out of the house, gave him water and waited with him till the police and ambulance arrived on the scene.
