"We are proud to have triplets as very few people in the world can have this privilege. I personally believe that children are a gift from Allah and we are happy to receive such a wonderful gift," Mr Khalid said.
The first of the triplets to enter this world was Bushra, who arrived at 10:54am, followed by Yusra at 10:55am and Mobin at 10:56am, after a caesarean.
"I would like to thank Dr Luthra, specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist, and the staff and management of Welcare Hospital whose support right from the beginning has been incredible," Mr Khalid said.
Dr Luthra said that the management of a triplet pregnancy was a privilege, as well as a professional challenge for an obstetrician. "We knew about the triplets a few months ago and when we informed the parents-to-be, they were overjoyed.
"This pregnancy was not as a result of fertility treatment, which is known to be a factor resulting in multiple births. This was a natural conception of triplets, which has further added to the joy of the parents."
James Pickle, CEO of Welcare Hospital, said: "It is a moment in history for Welcare Hospital, as it is our first such case. This also complements our vision for making Welcare a centre of excellence for women and children."
Dr Babu Shersad, Medical Director of Welcare Hospital, said: "I consider these babies a Ramadan gift. We have waited five and a half years for this moment."
