Worker dies in accident
SHARJAH - An Asian labourer died on Sunday after a serious blow to the head while he was at work in a factory in Industrial Area No. 3 in Sharjah. The labourer was using a cutting and packaging machine when the accident occurred. He was rushed to hospital where he died.
Police discovered that the deceased as well as other labourers in the factory were not on the factory's sponsorship. A Sharjah police spokesperson stressed the importance of employing experienced workers in such high-risk professions.
"Unqualified and unskilled labour should not be allowed to operate dangerous equipment and machinery. This dangerous practice may result in the death, injury or disability of the workers." He said that legal action shall be taken against those who employ unsponsored apprentices.
