Accompanying the Padmabhushan award winner will be well known Malayalam play back singers Sujatha Mohan, G. Venugopal and Gayathri.

Speaking at a Press conference, the celebrated singer said that the concert will feature some of his best loved film songs such as Gori tera gaon and Jab Deep Jhalle in Hindi as well as a number of his Malayalam and Tamil hits.

"This whole concept of the North-South rivalry in India is hyped up and music transcends all these issues. It is important that an artiste understands the audience and endeavours to please them. This is the reason why we are going to sing songs in all these languages, and not just restrict ourselves to Tamil and Malayalam," explained Dr Yesudas.

The show organised by Well and Well International and `Tharangini' will see Yesudhas performing duets with the accompanying singers. The soulful singer's classical concerts and film programmes continue to captivate millions of listeners at home and abroad. Having sung more than 50,000 songs for films in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, English, Bengali, Sanskrit, Spanish and Urdu, he is one of the most sought after playback singers in India.

Thanking God for his melodious voice, the shy singer felt that classical music still captivated audiences especially in the younger age bracket. "Young people, especially children, are very interested in classical music which encourages us to believe that it will continue to enthrall many more," he said.

Tickets are priced at Dh100 (VIP and VVIP), Dh50 (First class) and Dh20 (Gallery). Sponsors for the show include Coca Cola, Western Union, Sri Lankan Airlines, 106.2 HUM FM and UAQ 846 AM - Malayalam Services.
