Dubai Municipality has issued a clarification on a video that is being circulated in the social media channels about the manufacturing of ketchup. The Food Safety Department of Dubai Municipality investigated the original video and the methods of manufacturing ketchup, and it became clear that this video was produced for the television program, "How it's made" and the factory that was selected is one of the American factories known in the manufacture of ketchup. However, the video that is being circulated among the people in the social media has been manipulated and some components that are not really connected to this product have been added to cause confusion in the community, said Iman Al Bastaki, Director of Food Safety Department in Dubai Municipality. She pointed out that the Food Safety Department directs the public to check the authenticity of the visual or audio clips or any other messages that may carry false information or data about food before publishing it or refer it to the competent authorities for verification. Al Bastaki noted that the Municipality does not spare any effort in maintaining public health and protect the public from any risks. "For this, we have devoted a large force of observers and inspectors in all areas concerning the protection of public health and food," she said.
Al Bastaki confirmed that there are clear directives from the Director General of the Municipality on this area so as not to show any complacency at all in protecting people, and to emphasize on the application of all local orders and health regulations as well as the Gulf and international rules to protect public health. It should be noted that the Food Safety Department of the Municipality is considered to be a food safety reference authority in the region .
