Offering multispeciality healthcare complete with a professional medical team and state-of-
the-art facilities in a hospital environment is impressive, but what truly sets a brand apart is
the trust and dedication at all levels of operations, according to Dr. Reem Osman, Group
Chief Executive Officer, Saudi German Hospitals Group - UAE.
"Trust is very important in healthcare and this is something that cannot be achieved in a day
or two. The word of mouth is essential in healthcare, and this is where Saudi German
Hospitals UAE excels," she said.
The Saudi German Hospitals Group is the largest healthcare provider and hospital brand in
the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) with bases in several cities across Saudi Arabia,
UAE, Egypt and Yemen. Its hospitals have the largest footfall in the region, with numbers
steadily rising.
In the UAE, Saudi German Hospitals Group has branches in Dubai and Sharjah that are in full
operation, and is looking forward to welcome visitors to its recently-completed hospital in
Ajman.

"The hospital in Ajman is a 200-bed facility and will open its doors in April 2019. It will cater
to the medical needs of the people living in Ajman and Northern Emirates," said Dr. Osman.
The Group is also expanding to Ras Al Khaimah, which is currently at different stages of
completion, and plans to set up clinics across the emirates the first expected to open in
Dubai in May 2019.

This move is in line with Saudi German Hospitals Group's plan to cater to healthcare needs
and to establish a bigger presence in different geographic locations in UAE, which would
also serve as a feeder for the hospitals.

With a strong presence in the region, the Group has several accolades under its name. To
name a few, the World Economic Forum recognises the Group as one of the 50 Global
Growth Companies. It also holds the title of Healthcare Company of the Year 2019 as well as
GCC Patient Experience Eminence Award 2018-19, for its Excellence in Patient Experience
Measurement.

Plans to enrich the medical community
According to Dr. Osman, plans are underway to set up a medical university to address the
lack of educational facilities in the country.

"In Jeddah, we currently have the largest private medical college in the Middle East. Looking
ahead, we have big plans in the pipeline to set one up in Dubai as well," Dr. Osman shared.
The project will take the form of a medical city and is in line with the Group's expansion
plans. Dr. Osman shared that this would give the medical faculty a chance to extend their
passion to the younger generation.

"Currently, we feel that there is a shortage of medical education in the UAE, and the college
will give us a competitive edge. The academic factor is an exciting initiative, and our doctors,
many of whom possess an academic background in their home countries, are excited for it,"
she said.

Healthcare aligned with Expo 2020
Saudi German Hospitals Group understands the needs of the community at large, and is
paving the road to enrich its portfolio of primary, secondary and tertiary care.
The expansion will further accommodate the influx of visitors coming to the UAE as part of
Dubai Expo 2020. With construction in progress, the expansion is expected to match the
Expo deadline, bringing an additional 100-bed facility to the existing Dubai branch.

Advice
As an Ophthalmologist, Dr. Reem Osman reminds readers to consciously give eyes a rest
from electronic devices.
"We have become used to staring at computers and mobile phones. It is essential to take a
break. We need to actively take care of ourselves for better health," she said.
