Gryder who partnered Well Armed to win the last Dubai World Cup at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse last March enjoyed an interesting ride aboard Godolphin’s colt Alazeyb to claim show the way with 75 points ahead of runner up Olivier Peslier who walked away with the second place bonus of 20 points.

The Meydan Masters is a four race international jockeys’ series featuring 12 riders that have been successful in the world’s most famous races. Each rider will secure points according to finishing position with the winner of the Meydan Masters being the jockey with the most points at the end of the four races.

However, in the event of a late withdrawal, the rider involved will receive five points. And in the event of two or more jockeys accumulating the same number of points at the end of the four races, a count back will be done with the jockey riding the most number of winners being declared the winner.

Great ride by Richard Hills brought Sirocco Breeze home in the colours of Godolphin in the Meydan Museum handicap second leg of the competition. Sirocco settled at the rear of the group, but the five-year-old son of Green Desert showed a splendid turn of foot when the Englishman asked the question in the straight.

However, by the end of the second leg, American Jockey Aaron Gryder continued to lead with 90 points after he finished third astride Saudi contender Consul General and pocketed 15 points. Richard Hills settled on the leader’s heels with 81 points from a win and six points after finishing seventh in the first leg.

The third race, Meydan Handicap Classic, the first turf meeting outside the Meydan Masters was won by Ahmed Ajtebi with Frozen Power to claim a quick double for trainer Saeed bin Suroor. The race saw the withdrawal of two Brazilian colts; Tenarin and Talenta. They were substituted by Coeur Loyal and Astonishment under Ted Durcan and Wayne Smith respectively.
