Emirates Doncaster Mile produces thrilling finish

DUBAI — Emirates was the focus at the Australian Jockey Club’s Autumn Racing Carnival on Saturday with the running of the prestigious Emirates Doncaster Mile, while A-list celebrities enjoyed the colours, sounds and tastes of India in the airline’s hospitality marquee, a press release said.

Emirates ambassador, Australian-born Hollywood actress Sarah Wynter, was joined in the marquee by local celebrities including cricketers, actors, musicians, TV presenters and leading business identities.

As well as sampling Indian delicacies, guests were entertained by Bollywood dancing and music, with the marquee design showcasing the unique Indian lifestyle and culture in the most opulent trackside setting. On the track, Rangirangdoo broke through for his first Group 1 win, by edging out Road the Rock to win a thrilling Emirates Doncaster Mile, one of Australia’s greatest handicap races.

Richard Jewsbury, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Far East and Australasia, said: “Emirates is proud to be naming rights sponsor of the prestigious Doncaster Mile and partner of the overall AJC Autumn Racing Carnival. Emirates has a great tradition with horse racing in Australia and around the globe and this year’s win by Rangirangdoo was another outstanding race.”

Emirates has a great affinity with horse racing, in addition to its sponsorship of the Australian Jockey Club (AJC).
