The race meeting follows the successful opening meeting of the Dubai International Racing Carnival on Thursday, which saw six out of eight races won by international horses, most notably by 2009 Dubai World Cup second place winner Gloria De Campeao, who made all in the first round of the Al Maktoum Challenge.

Meydan’s Chairman of the Board and CEO Saeed Humaid Al Tayer said: “Following last week’s inaugural race meeting, we are pleased to welcome Dubal as the second sponsor here at Meydan Racecourse. We are truly grateful to all our sponsors, like Dubal, who have moved forward with us from Nad Al Sheba to our new facility. We look forward to ensuring that they, along with all our guests have a truly enjoyable evening at the races.”

Dubal’s official spokesperson, Khalid Essa Buhumaid, the Vice-President, Corporate Relations and International Affairs added: “Dubai Aluminium Company Limited (Dubal) is widely known as a world-class aluminium smelter, a major contributor to the non-oil sector of Dubai’s economy and an industrial flagship of the UAE, we are therefore proud to be a regular patron and associated with the annual Dubai International Racing Carnival which is an extremely prestigious event. It’s one of the ways that we demonstrate our company’s ambition to be a role model for care and responsibility within the community by actively supporting initiatives and projects that promote the socio-economic growth of Dubai — and thereby benefiting the cosmopolitan population of the emirate. Together, we excel.”

Frank Gabriel Jr, Dubai Racing Club’s CEO said: “We have seen a brilliant start to the Dubai International Racing Carnival with last Thursday featuring some great results. The second race meeting promises to be just as action-packed and we are sure Dubal will be rewarded with an exciting racecard on Thursday.”

Thursday’s meeting offers a number of hospitality options available to suit all tastes.

Entrance to the public areas of Meydan Racecourse is free of charge and there are also complimentary transfers at the end of the night from Meydan Racecourse to Arabian Ranches (outside the main entrance of the shopping centre), Dubai Marina, Emirates Towers (Boulevard entrance by Cartier), Wafi (outside of Pyramids) and Souk Madinat.

The Dubai Transport Company operates a taxi service from Meydan with the taxi drop-off and pick up point located outside the Meydan Grandstand.
