Nine have been declared for the 2200m feature, but Al Charif, trained in Oman by Philippe Barbe, looks the one to beat being a Group One winner in Europe.

David Badel takes the ride with Tadhg O’Shea on stable companion Kerbelle Lotoise who may prove the main danger, a press release said.

The local defence is headed by the unbeaten Najem Al Khalij, trained by Saifaldin Deeb who has enjoyed a prolific campaign, especially at Abu Dhabi.

His win in the Abu Dhabi Colts’ Classic was a good performance. Old rivals Raeaa W’Rsan, representing Jaci Wickham and Richard Mullen, and Sama Bu Dhabi, trained by Michael Kettle and the mount of Salima Al Taleei, again clash in the race but the two fillies would appear to have something to find with the Omani horses. The only Thoroughbred race is also over 2200m and this conditions race is a prep for the Listed Abu Dhabi Championship next month.

Erwan Charpy looks well represented with Hello Morning, to be ridden by Richard Hills and Mister Fasliyev, under Pat Smullen both having strong claims.

Musabah Al Muhairi’s Detonator, Dhruba Selvaratnam’s Envisage and the Ali Rashid Al Raihe-trained Rochdale look the pick of the rest.
