The three-day event, held under the patronage of EEF Chairman Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan and Palms Sports Resort Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, is organized and coordinated by Emirates Equestrian Federation. The Palm Sports Resort is opening its doors for the first time for such a big equestrian sport.
The competitions will attract Category A, B, C and D riders but Championship Classes are confined to the UAE nationals only. But all nationalities are allowed to participate in the Open Class every day. The first day of the competitions will begin at 5 p.m, second day will be at 3 p.m, and on the final day, the competitions will begin at 9 a.m. Fences will range from 95 cm to 150 cm.
The Championship comprise competitions each taking place on a different day. The total penalties incurred at the end of the three competitions will count to determine the final placing. Riders eliminated or retired from any round are not eligible to participate in subsequent rounds/competitions.
Officials for the three-day championship include Lisa Hareb, President, Ground Jury, Khalil Ibrahim, Ashraf El Laithi and Hassan Mousa (judges), Atef Shawky (NF Representative), Rana Essa (Event Coordinator), Ali Mohajeer (Chief Steward), Chirstine Gruber (Arena Steward), Volker Schmitt (Course Designer), Dr. Hallvard Sommerseth and Dr. Adeeb Mehsen (Veterinarians).
Taleb Dhaher Al Muhairi, Secretary General, Emirates Equestrian Federation, said on the eve of the event, that it was indeed a big step forward for the Federation which has been organising the Emirates Jumping Championship for over a decade now. He said the jumping discipline has grown tremendously in the last few years.
