UAE horses dominated the first day while the Saudi and Qatari contenders have also made their presence felt.

The three-day event attracted 310 horses from different parts of the world lining up for the extensive prize money.

According to the organisers, the multi-million dollars prizes will, without doubt, not only improve the quality of horses participating in the championship, but also enhance the overall number of participants, audience and enthusiasts of the show.

The competition is organised under the auspices of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the UAE Minister of Finance from March 18 to 20.

In the Class 13, Racing Championshp for mares and geldings, Nasnas earned Shaikh Dr.Sultan bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan the first silverware. The 12-year-old by Djelfor from PR Diolina collected 123 marks and 82 total points to finish ahead of RS Ahssifa for Timothy Robert Swalding. Sahm Al Asayl for Alwada Stables walked away with the third place honours. Then came Al Jummana W’Rsan for Shaikh Sultan bin

Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and La Tarmes for His Highness the President Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

El Mansour De Brou for His Highness the President Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan did the better work in the Class 14 Racing Champions Stallions to finish dead-heat with stable companion Sadeem. Both horses performed to the satisfaction of the judges to receive 110 marks and 73.3 total points.

Meanwhile, Mureb completed a clean sweep of His Highness the President’s stables of the first three places. Mureeb collected 108 points and 72 total points. Al Haroon W’Rsan for Shaikh Sultan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was third and stable companion AS’SABAHw’Rsan took the fifth place honours.

The European horses prevailed in the Class 15 Ebdurance Championship for Mares and Geldings. Kail Zaid won the first position with 115 marks and 76.6 points from the Shaikh Hamdan horse Kie-Al Strawbery.

Then came Gold Giovanni JM from Fazza Endurance Team of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, followed by stable-mate Ennerdale Otto and B H Shakdor for Shaikh Ahmed bin Humaid bin Rashid Asl Nuaimi.

Al Aryam Arabians claimed the Class 16 Endurance Championship Stallions with Lea-Ma Park Chicago who made a record 119 total marks and 79.3 total points. SM Matra for Shaikh Dr. Sultan bin Khalifa bin

Zayed Al Nahyan came second with 117 total marks and 78 total points followed by Doit Myway for Shaikh Sultan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, AS Dirham for Khalifa Mohammed Khadem bin Butti A;l Ahmed and Moro Flanders for Shaikh Ahmed bin Humaid bin Rashid Asl Nuaimi.

The UAE horses continued to lead in the Class 1 Fillies (1-year) with the beautiful princess Maryah Os owned by Shaikh Mohammed Saoud Sultan

Saqar Al Qassimi. AJ Wed for Ajman Stud, AJ Raheda for Ajman Stud, Fazza Al Zobair for Shaikh Mohammed Abdulla Mohammed Al Thani and D Deemah for the Dubai Arabian Horse Stud.

Sarah Al Nasser for Al Nasser Studa was judged the best filly in the Class 2B Fillies (2-year-old Section B), FT Shaella claimed the Class-3 (Fillies 3 Years) for Dubai Arabian Horse Stud and Badawieh walked away with the trophy of Class 4 Mares 4-6 Years for Ajman Stud.
