The glitzy malls of Dubai are remarkable at luring us in out of the heat, and deft at separating us from our wallets.

Yes, you heard it right. Bollywood film Welcome Back is still being shot in Dubai. This time the team landed at Dubai Gold Souk, Deira, and shot extensively to complete the remaining portions of their last schedule. Kanz Jewels, host of this shoot, insists that this is the first time ever that a Bollywood movie is being shot in the Gold Souk. Anil Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia were part of this scene and mingled with the crowd gathered, following the shoot.
Anees Bazmee, the director of the film said, “We were looking for something unique in the Gold Souk as per the plot in our movie. As per our research we found that this shop had a 63-kilogramme gold ring, which happens to be one of the world’s heaviest gold rings. So we approached Kanz and they agreed to accommodate us and we are delighted to know that we have created a history of sorts by shooting the first ever Bollywood movie in Dubai’s prestigious Gold souk.”
In the recent past several celebrities like Nicholas Cage, Steven Siegal, Brian Lara, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty and Gulshan Grover have graced this jewellery store.
Ninety per cent of Welcome Back, which began filming in Dubai last year has been completed in the UAE. The film is expected to release in May 2015.
