OPERA GALLERY WILL showcase the artworks of international artists Romero Britto and Laurence Jenkell in Dubai. The exhibition, featuring the candy sculptures of Laurence Jenkell and the iconic artworks of Brazilian Romero Britto, will take place at Opera Gallery in the Dubai International Financial Centre, from November 26 to December 17.

Romero Britto is acclaimed for his cheerful themes and animated compositions, as well as his energetic and uniquely Neo-pop style. From cars to celebrity portraits and commissioned murals, his art has graced a variety of landmarks, demonstrating incredible versatility and charisma. The New York Times described Britto’s art as the combination of Matisse and Picasso’s works with a blend of warmth, optimism and love.

Laurence Jenkell has pushed the cultural sublimation of the sweet-object beyond any other creative artist, thus embodying the sincerity of her vision. She will exhibit her ‘Bonbon wrappings’ candy sculptures for all art enthusiasts in the UAE. An active participant in the renewal of figurative sculpture that has been taking place over the last few years, Jenkell contributes to the sphere with her appropriation of the sweet, giving it a form that is unique in the field of contemporary sculpture.
