The glamorous TOIFA 2016 Awards opened on Friday to honour individuals for their achievement in Technical Award categories. The Bollywood experience in Dubai kick-started with a 'Gulf Air Gold Carpet' along with an exciting dose of entertainment and fashion.
Melodic performances by Shweta Pandit and Aman Trika paid tribute to 2015 acts as Sooraj Pancholi with Zarine Khan sashayed with royalty during the performance. A very happy Shweta said, "I have performed in Dubai a couple of times in the past and love the enthusiasm of the crowd, that's why when TOIFA offered this opportunity to perform here again, I couldn't say no."
Shalmali Kholgade and Armaan Mallik performed a medley of the most popular Bollywood songs, while Huma and Manish entertained the audience with their comfortable camaraderie and charming presence on stage.
Huma said: "It was an honour and great fun to co-host the Technical Awards for TOIFA 2016 with Manish. He is perfect with his timing and I'm sure Bollywood fans in Dubai had an amazing time just like we did."
Manish replied: "I always enjoy hosting because it's one of the best ways to interact with the audience. It was fun to catch up with my Dubai fans and friends from the industry."
Mumbai-based designers Riyaz and Reshma Gangji of Libas showcased their elegant designs at the 'Gulf Air Gold Carpet' as actors Sooraj Pancholi and Zarine Khan dazzled on the red carpet.
Shah Rukh Khan presented the Best Story Award, which was accepted by Kareena Kapoor on behalf of KV Vijayendra Prasad.
The unexpected surprises for the night were: Karisma Kapoor, who walked the ramp for fashion designer Farhaz Manan, wearing a beautiful gold gown; Ranveer Singh accepting the award on behalf of Anju Modi for Best Costume Designer - Bajirao Mastani; and Parineeti Chopra, who presented the award for Best Choreography for ABCD 2.
Other Bollywood stars who graced the event were actors Riteish Deshmukh, Kareena Kapoor, Karthik Aryan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Gautam Gulati and Ronit Roy.
