THE CAST OF new Bollywood film Highway, Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt, will be touring the city today to promote their romance-drama.
An unconventional plot, this UTV production sees Alia’s character kidnapped by a gang including Randeep. She is then driven across country while the group attempt to extort money for her safe return. In a bizarre twist, the young lady begins to enjoy life as a prisoner on the road. Director Imtiaz Ali labels the movie a “coming of age story.” Whether every journey of self-discovery should hinge on a tale of abduction remains to be seen.

Shooting for Highway has taken Alia Bhatt to several locations in north India, be it Kashmir or Punjab. Rajasthan also plays an important role in the film. One of the places the film’s crew set up was a salt factory in Sambhar (Jaipur).
“Highway took me to all these amazing places that I probably wouldn’t have ever seen otherwise. Sambhar, the salt factory was the most beautiful and the weirdest experience for me. I celebrated my birthday there as well... in many ways, I think it was here that I truly started feeling like Veera (her character in the film),” Alia said.
