India-Pakistan standoff: Here is what we know so far

The events in the escalating standoff between India and Pakistan are reaching alarming proportions.

Here is what we know:

1. An MiG 21 pilot is missing from the Indian Air Force.

He has not been identified by name, although a video was released by Radio Pakistan with a man claiming to be IAF pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan.

India confirms one pilot missing in action. Raveesh Kumar from the MEA and stated: "One Pakistan Air Force fighter aircraft was shot down by Indian Air Force.

Earlier, Radio Pakistan had released a video it claimed was of an arrested IAF pilot.

"In this engagement, we have lost one MiG 21. Pilot is missing in action. Pakistan claims he is in their custody. We are ascertaining the facts."

2 - Reports of an F-16 Pakistani aircraft being shot down have been denied.

Indian media sources had reported that an F-16 Pakistani aircraft had been shot down by the IAF.

According to the official spokesperson for the Pakistan Armed Forces, Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor: "No F-16 of Pakistan was shot down in this action contrary to some reports by Indian media"

3 - Only one Indian Air Force aircraft was confirmed missing after Pakistan announces two being shot down.

Pakistan Army Forces spokesperson had earlier released a statement regarding two Indian aircraft being shot down which had been inside Pakistani airspace. One of them fell in Azad Jammu and Kashmir while the other fell in IOK. One Indian pilot was arrested by troops on the ground, while two remain in the area.

They also later affirmed that all three IAF pilots are in their custody.
