In a terrifying incident, an iPhone exploded in a customer's hand at a phone shop in China. The shocking moment was captured on CCTV of the store in Shanghai and shows the iPhone bursting into flames while the woman sat at the repair desk of the shop.
The footage shows workers sitting behind the counter and talking to a woman and a man who came to repair the iPhone. That is when the iPhone suddenly explodes. The woman named Ren reels her chair back in shock. She sustained injuries in her hand and was taken to Huangpu Central Hospital. One worker backs his chair away as the phone goes up in flames while another staff member covers his face and leans forward to put out the fire.
According to reports in Mirror, the woman said that she had returned to the shop as the battery given to her by the maintenance shop just four months earlier began to bulge. Ren said, "I was still talking to the technician and was holding it with my left hand when it suddenly exploded. Their manager took me to the hospital."
The cause of the fire is under investigation and a spokeswoman for the official Apple Store in the district said, "We have an authorised service centre next door called Bybon, but this shop in question is not licensed by us."
