International students tour Thumbay Medicity and campus

Thumbay Medicity, a regional hub of medical education, healthcare and research built by Thumbay Group, recently hosted a team of 50 PG students from the S P Jain School of Global Management who are pursuing the Global Family Managed Business Programme in India.

They visited Thumbay Medicity and toured Gulf Medical University, Thumbay Dental Hospital, Thumbay Rehab Hospital and Thumbay University Hospital at the Thumbay Medicity as a part of their field visit.

Chancellor Prof. Hossam Hamdy hosted a discourse and presentation, while the students had the privilege to meet Dr Thumbay Moideen, founder-president of Thumbay Group, and have a one-on-one discussion about his journey, along with leadership insights on becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Dr Thumbay Moideen said that Thumbay Medicity serves the region as a hub of world-class healthcare, medical education and Research, fully equipped to serve a floating population of 20,000. “The Thumbay Medicity a unique destination for specialized care. Thumbay Medicity is also a referral facility to which primary and secondary care hospitals and clinics refer serious cases.”

Chancellor Prof. Hossam Hamdy expressed that GMU would be happy to explore opportunities for collaboration between GMU and the S P Jain School of Global Management.

Thumbay Medicity also houses Body & Soul Health Club and Spa, Thumbay Food Court, Blends & Brews Coffee Shoppe, Thumbay Pharmacy and Thumbay Labs.

The specialised hospitals of Thumbay Medicity are Academic Health Centres of the Gulf Medical University Academic Health System (GMUAHS), which give them the unique advantage of having the expertise of doctors as well as academicians and researchers.

GMU and Thumbay Hospitals has the distinction of being the first private academic health system in the region.

The students, led by director Dr Parimal Merchant, and faculty members Samish Dalal and Sabina Khan, appreciated the excellent facilities for healthcare, medical education and  research as well as the University’s advanced training and teaching facilities.

They appreciated Dr Moideen for being the first Indian to achieve this and Thumbay Group’s efforts in bringing the latest technology and innovation in healthcare and medical education to the region.
