The tie-up between Singapore Airlines and the Tata conglomerate could see a new era in air travel with private players entering an industry hitherto controlled by the state. Airline operators, faced with huge fuel bills and other operating costs, will find partnerships an alternate way to survive!

After Indian flag carrier Air India’s woes, Singapore Airline’s entry on the lucrative Indian route should get clearance as a rising middle class seeks a no-nonsense, affordable and non-strike affected carrier to ferry them to global destinations.
