This is with reference to the opinion article, Teachers ace pandemic tests with superhero powers. It is gratifying to note the recognition and validation given to the super human efforts of the teaching community in the wake of the pandemic. The efforts taken by the teachers to make their virtual classrooms effective, pushing beyond the boundaries, cannot be better understood more precisely other than the teacher himself or herself. Teachers have been emerging and evolving as heroes constantly, learning and relearning so many things while acing and adopting their technical skills to suit the virtual mode of teaching. However, the due recognition that should come in the form of monetary benefit is sadly missing. I agree that the pandemic situation has reduced the salaries of many professionals but lowering the salaries of teachers who are already underpaid does not seem justifiable. If more awareness about and concern for superheroes is shown by safeguarding their interests, thereby aiding them to make both ends meet during this testing period, it would really be a great gesture towards these unsung heroes. - Latha Narasimhan, Sharjah
