Mango nostalgia

I enjoyed reading the article "Fruitful Memories of Mangoes" published in the Khaleej Times recently. Mango is not just a fruit, the author wrote. I agree. It invokes many memories of the joyful time spent under its shade, and also brings back thoughts of my relatives in hometown. I used to study under a mango tree near my house during my college days. I spent almost two months in a year studying under its shade and developed a strong bond with it and the vicinity. Thank you for the lovely article.

Colour of beauty
Talking point article raised some valid points regarding the celebrities endorsing fairness creams or campaigning against them. As rightly pointed out the choice of undergoing beauty treatment for whitening rests on the individual. The issue of racial and ethnic discrimination needs to be addressed in a different light. It calls for a change in mindset that harbours stereotypical notions of beauty. As with colour of the skin, endorsing for blonde hair, straight hair and body sculpting gadgets are equally racist. I think the debate should focus on developing a good personality and having confidence in who you are.
