If someone is driving at the maximum permissible speed limit in the fastest lane, why should he or she be fined just because there is a reckless driver on the road who wants to drive at a higher speed (Tailgating in Abu Dhabi: Dh400 fine for vehicle in front; KT, Jan. 21)? Don't such drivers put safety of themselves and others at risk? What if such drivers lose control of their vehicles during their high-speed stunts? I think authorities should judge fairly before giving fines. The permissible speed limits and risk of reckless driving should be taken into account.
