Al Futtaim Motors suspended sales of Lexus GX460 and 2010 Toyota Prado VX and VX-L models on April 15 and April 20 respectively due to concerns regarding the response time of its Vehicles Stability Control
(VSC) system.

“I can confirm that the Lexus GX460 and Toyota Prado VX and VX-L models are now back on sale. We are currently applying the software update to existing customers’ cars and all cars delivered from now on will have the update completed prior to handover,” Al Futtaim Motors Managing Director Simon Frith said in a statement on Monday.

Frith said: “To-date we have contacted the majority of affected customers and anticipate communicating with those remaining customers over the coming days.”

Last month the distributor said it had sold 367 Prado VX and VX-Ls in the country, but did not disclose the total inventory available in the country for these vehicles. The distributor said it has been liaising very closely with Toyota Motor Corporation and the UAE’s Ministry of Economy since the initial announcement was made in the US. “We appreciate the continued co-operation and support among all the parties honouring the best interests of our customers. We regret any inconvenience the campaign has caused but trust customers appreciate the importance we always place on customer care,” Frith said.
