The company was expecting 35 per cent growth this year, but due to some slackness in the last quarter it will manage to achieve 30 per cent growth, Bakshi told Khaleej Times at the launch of its first netbook Joybook Lite U101 here on Wednesday. The company has planned to launch more sizes for netbook next year i.e. 11.6” and 13.” It will also introduce new models in different categories next year, informed Bakshi. BenQ will also introduce 52” LCD in TV category next year as of today it has 47” the highest one.

Bakshi said the first half of the next year will be tough, but Saudi Arabia and Egypt are still booming despite current financial turmoil.

Earlier, BenQ launched its first netbook, Joybook Lite U101. Responding to consumers’ demands and integrating BenQ’s core competencies, Joybook Lite U101 is designed to fully address Net Generation’s primary requirements for netbooks. Netbooks are aimed at a range of consumers from students to business travellers and they are viewed by the industry not as a laptop replacement but more of a companion device. abdulbasit@khaleejtimes.com
