Businesses in the UAE are ramping up their services, such as same day deliveries, to ensure that residents are comfortable with the social distancing initiatives that have been launched as a result of the Covid-19.
Rashid Al Ghurair, founder and CEO of CAFU, noted that residents are increasingly looking to services that help them minimise the time that they are spending outside their homes.
"The service and value that CAFU brings is innovative in itself, especially at a time like this where healthcare experts are encouraging social distancing," he said. "We understand that traveling outside their homes may not be the safest option for many. Hence, with CAFU, you can be sure that your vehicle is always fueled up without you having to travel. CAFU was designed as a contactless service - our pilots can come and fuel up your car wherever you are and at your convenient time, minimising your exposure to any physical contact while still ensuring your car is always fueled up."
Eco-friendly supermarket chain, Grandiose, has also expanded its delivery-radius and strengthened its delivery offering to include more areas, in a responsive move to the surge in demand and to support global stay-at-home advice.
Olivier Latour, CEO of Grandiose supermarkets, said: "Grandiose's stringent business continuity planning and responsive agility to unforeseen circumstances has enabled us to continue offering same day delivery to customers, providing the same level of uninterrupted service. Orders can be placed via the store's Whatsapp or telephone numbers and through third party applications including Instashop and el grocer. The chain has experienced exponential increase in home delivery orders compared to previous weeks and noted an increase in demand for sanitizing products, gloves, water, tissue, rice, pasta, and frozen food items, in addition to meat products."
Latour added that Grandiose continues to deliver on its promise to deliver items from stores to customers within a two-hour time frame, in addition to expanding Dubai Marina Promenade store hours which is open 24 hours a day.
In support of guidelines to ensure public safety, Olivier assured: "Grandiose has implemented safe distance markers across all checkout areas and is controlling the flow of customers in store. These measures are in addition to the provision of gloves, sanitizing solution and tissues at entry points to every store. Grandiose is also ensuring that the health of their team members is monitored through measuring temperatures regularly."
Similarly, James Michael Lafferty, CEO of Fine Hygienic Holding, observed that there has been a noticeable shift in consumer behavior and buying patterns around all hygienic products, including tissues, paper towels, and toilet rolls.
"Sterilized products such as tissues are now 'top-of-mind' as consumers buy these brands to reduce the germ load in their home. Notably, Fine has received sales enquiries for 20 million masks from over 100 countries in recent weeks, with some individual queries topping two million units," he said.
