According to the agreement, CERT and Wharton will establish a Research Centre to be called ‘Wharton Entrepreneurship and Family Business Centre’, where Wharton faculty will study entrepreneurship, innovation and family business to advance their understanding of the region and provide their faculty with rich new areas for research. This partnership makes Wharton one of the first business schools to establish a centre for entrepreneurship.

In addition, CERT and Wharton will collaborate on the development of an Arabic language version of Knowledge@Wharton, Wharton’s

award-winning online business journal. The site aims to analyse business trends in the Middle East and their impact on the larger global community.

“This collaboration between CERT and Wharton represents a significant milestone in our continuing quest for promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in UAE and the region,” said Dr Tayeb Kamali, group chief executive of CERT and vice-chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology.

“Hosting the Arabic edition of Knowledge@Wharton portal provides tremendous opportunity for disseminating knowledge on a broad range of research projects involving family businesses and entrepreneurship,” he added.

The agreement was signed on Monday by Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology and Thomas S. Robertson, Dean of Wharton School.

Professor Raphael Amit, will spearhead Wharton’s engagement with CERT for the formation of the Wharton Entrepreneurship and Family Business Research Centre.
