The overall consumer price index, or CPI, reached 119.12 in January 2014, and with comparison with the base year (2007=100), it increased by 0.13% per cent compared to its value at the end of December 2013, while it increased by 1.45 per cent compared to its value at the end of January 2013, National Bureau of Statistics data showed.
The findings indicated increases in the following major expenditure groups: housing by 0.60 per cent; furniture and household goods by 0.15 per cent; transportation by 0.08 per cent; medical care by 0.06 per cent; and communications by 0.02 per cent.
Decreases were noted in food and soft drinks by 0.51 per cent; miscellaneous goods and services by 0.30 per cent; textiles, clothing and footwear by 0.17 per cent; and restaurants and hotels by 0.01 per cent.
