Dewa wins top e-Government honours again

DUBAI — The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, or Dewa, again won first place in the overall assessment of the Dubai e-Government services for the years 2008 and 2009. The results showed an increase of 88 per cent in the overall e-services evaluation results for the years 2008 and 2009 compared with 2007, a year when it also notched top honours.

Dewa won the first place in the assessment conducted by Dubai e-Government on a selected sample of public e-services. The results showed the assessment of 545 electronic services provided by the 18 departments and government agency in Dubai. The project used the e-Services Delivery Excellence Model as a basis to “assess the quality of electronic services” for the years 2008 and 2009 with some minor amendments.

“We continue our steady path of success towards international, said Dewa Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer.

“This new accomplishment in obtaining the first position in the overall assessment of the electronic services is in line with the strategy e-government efforts to raise the level of electronic services in Dubai while laying the foundations of an integrated knowledge based community which supports the UAE Government strategy to establish a new phase of governmental procedures following the best practices that contribute to achieving a sustainable and balanced development,” he added.
