Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, or DFRE, an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, has attributed the superb collaboration between the government and private sectors for the huge success of festivals like Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), which have become key drivers of economic growth in Dubai.

The strong collaboration between the government and private sectors has ensured the success of Dubai Shopping Festival every year as the private sector has participated enthusiastically either by way of sponsorship or amazing prizes that has made the festival a global attraction.

The 19th edition of DSF will be held from January2 to February 2 under the theme “Shop at Your Best’ which aims to renew the focus on shopping by offering visitors a variety of unique and enriching shopping experiences.

“The DSF kicks off Dubai’s calendar of events in the new year, DFRE is ever grateful to the outstanding support offered by the private sector. Dubai’s economy is thriving and the UAE continues to march ahead with new creative concepts and mega projects like Expo 2020. It is in this excellent environment for growth that DSF continues to play a pivotal role in helping Dubai maintain its position as one of the best shopping and family tourism destinations in the world,” said Laila Mohd Suhail, CEO of DFRE.

“DSF also reaffirms Dubai’s image as a leading retail destination in the region, a position that it has held for over a 100 years, and which has only grown stronger due to the whole-hearted support extended by the private sector.”

The festival accounts for between 25 per cent to 30 per cent of the annual sales of the retail sector and has helped boost other sectors like travel and hospitality. Further, DSF has played a key role in the rapid development of the events industry in Dubai that has placed Dubai high on the list of top events destinations in the world.

“With DSF being the first major event to be organised following Dubai’s successful bid to host Expo 2020, we are confident that the latest edition of the festival will live up, or even exceed the expectations of residents and visitors from around the world, and once again prove Dubai’s capability in hosting mega events.” She added.

“We are able to make this positive prediction today largely because of the intense co-ordination that is continuing between the government and private sectors. Dubai through this unique and creative festival has proved time and again that it can guarantee the success of an international event.”
