Attended by representatives from the SME sector, the session held at the DKV Conference Centre, featured a presentation entitled “Get your Finances in Shape: Trends, Risks and Strategies for SME” by Genesis Review Managing Director Binod Shankar.
Shankar said: “These are undoubtedly tough times. Small and medium enterprises have been more affected by the financial crisis than the larger, well established entities. Financial management has never been more important; almost everything has a financial impact,” Shankar said.
“However, key corporate decisions are often made by individuals who are often unaware of the financial implications of these decisions that sometimes destroy the core value of a company. In our presentation, we have focused on how to create and maintain value by looking at the latest ground realities, assessing the related risks and thinking of solutions.”
An initiative of DKV’s Partner Development Management department, the TECOM SME Builder provides an ideal environment for owners of small and medium enterprisesto upgrade their business management skills and establish greater synergy within their respective entrepreneurial segments.
The event was organised with the involvement of TECOM Investments’ business partners such as ABAMI Experiential Learning, Potential, Maxsales, Al Tamimi & Company, Leginsky Consulting Counsel, Bayt.com, Zawya, Flagship Consultancy, Genesis Review, Disruptive Play, MEPRA, Business in Motion, Potential, Stanton Chase International. and The Core Group.
“The session proved valuable to representatives of small and medium businesses. This is part of our ongoing endeavour to organise and facilitate platforms for the community to engage and exchange best practices. This initiative is an effort in this direction that demonstrates the firm commitment of Dubai Knowledge Village to develop human capital in the UAE and the region,” said TECOM Managing Director of Education Cluster Dr Ayoub Kazim.
Launched in January 2007, SME Builder aims to support business partners through fostering their interaction with the TECOM community as well as other industries, maximising their exposure and visibility, and helping them reach their target market via building appropriate marketing channels.
