DUBAI — British Airways —the UK’s flagship carrier which operates 21 weekly flights from Dubai to London Heathrow — has revealed it will fly a staggering 1.6 million people during the peak festive period (December 17 to January 4).

And while the airline’s top longhaul destination remains its flagship New York (JFK) route, Dubai — along with Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and 
Washington — make up British 
Airways’ five most popular winter getaways.

“With three daily flights from London Heathrow to the emirate, Dubai is already our busiest regional route and as a result of the unprecedented demand on our current 21 weekly services, we are adding another five weekly flights to the route in January. Dubai is now firmly established in our top five winter destinations,” said Paul Starrs, British Airways’ commercial manager, Middle East.

“Our frequent schedule and low prices on flights to London and the USA give our local customers the best reason get away to visit friends and relatives and experience our new home in London, Terminal 5”, added Starrs.

British Airways’ busiest day during the Christmas period is today, Friday, December 19, when almost 105,000 customers are travelling with the airline around the world.

Over the holiday period some 7,500 flights will operate through the airline’s Terminal 5 home at London Heathrow, with over 1,500 flights operating out of London Gatwick during the same period.

Flights to London on British Airways start from just Dh2,550, while flights to the USA start from only Dh3,640 return including taxes, fees and surcharges and can be booked online at ba.com —where the lowest British Airways fares to London are guaranteed — and customers can book, pay and check-in online for their flights.
