Shelving of the $654 million Atrium project is another blow for the United Arab Emirates largest contractor by market value, after Dubai’s Meydan LLC said earlier this month it cancelled a racecourse construction deal with Arabtec and Malaysian construction firm WCT Engineering Bhd.

The project, which is located in the Madinat al-Arab district of Dubai Waterfront, was awarded to Arabtec in September 2008, MEED said.

MEED did say where it got the information from.
