First Geant hypermarket in Yas Mall to open in 2012

Yas Mall, including the Geant store, is set to open to the public in late 2012, while the largest IKEA in the Middle East and North African region at Yas Island in early 2011, Mohammed Al Mubarak, chief commercial officer, Aldar announced on Monday.

Yas Mall is a 250,000 square metres mall featuring a wide range of retail categories from individual boutiques to large format value retailers. Hypermarket will be spread over an area of over 16,000 square meters and will stock and sell over 65,000 products from groceries, frozen foods, bakery products, butchery, textiles, fashion wear, shoes, jewellery, electronics, sporting goods to household items, household accessories, cosmetics and perfumes. Yas Mall, which is being developed adjacent to Yas Marina Circuit and Yas Hotel at Yas Island, will include exclusive brands from 
across the world.

Aldar recently signed a long term lease agreement with Retail Arabia to develop the first Géant hypermarket in Abu Dhabi at Yas Island. Retail Arabia operates the Géant hypermarkets, supermarkets and convenient stores in key GCC markets. Géant hypermarkets are a part of a French retailing giant Groupé Casino which operates over 11,000 stores worldwide
