The government-owned airline announced six destinations during the year i.e. Muscat in Oman, Kuwait, Assiut in Egypt, Istanbul in Turkey and now Kabul and Luxor.

“This brings our network to 17 destinations and continues our commitment to make travel a little less complex, a little less stressful and a little less expensive and ensure more people travel to more destinations more often,” flydubai chief executive Ghaith Al Ghaith said.

Starting on May 17, flydubai will extend its network to Kabul in Afghanistan and this will be followed two days later with flights to the ancient Egyptian city of Luxor. Flights to the Afghan capital will start from Dh725 and will be five times per week, whereas flights to Luxor will be priced at Dh350 and will be thrice weekly.

“Again these routes are a combination of the two different types of destinations we were set up to serve – those which have very few direct links to the UAE and those which are already popular routes but would benefit from having an additional low cost option,” Al Ghaith said.

Kabul and Luxor are both fascinating places. Luxor boasts some of the most incredible historical sights on the planet, such as the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Karnak. Kabul is going through a very turbulent time, but providing air links on a quality airline flying the newest, safest aircraft in the industry will ensure the brave people working to secure and develop the country will have a safe, comfortable and affordable travel option.

FZ301 will operate five times per week and will depart Dubai for the Afghani capital at 0200hrs, landing in Kabul at 0520hrs local time. The return flight, FZ302 will depart from Kabul at 0620hrs and arrive into Dubai at 0845hrs local time.

For Luxor, which boasts three weekly flights, FZ183 will depart from Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2 at 2255hrs and land in Luxor at 0135hrs local time the following day. The return flight, FZ184 will depart Luxor at 0220hrs and arrive into Dubai at 0645hrs local time.

Bookings are now open and flights can be purchased on flydubai’s website. Flydubai operates from a modernised and enhanced Terminal 2 on the north side of Dubai International Airport. The flydubai model is simple, with customers paying only for the services they want to receive. The ticket price includes all taxes and one piece of hand baggage, weighing up to 10kg, per passenger. abdulbasit@khaleejtimes.com
