The world's tallest hotel Ciel, coming up in Dubai Marina, has achieved its first milestone as its foundation nears completion.
With more than 11,800 cubic metres of concrete and 3,000 tonnes of steel being used to construct the building's foundations, the largest concrete pour was completed this week, comprising of 7,000 cubic metres of concrete over a continuous 48-hour period. A final pour consisting of 1,000 cubic metres of concrete is scheduled for September 3, 2020.
Slated to open in 2023, the hotel's developer, The First Group, has appointed China Railway Construction Company (CRCC) as the main contractor. The 365-metre tall Ciel is designed by architectural firm, Norr, housing 1,042 rooms including 150 suites, premium guest amenities and facilities, such as an observatory and lounge on the 81st floor. It will also have a signature rooftop Sky Terrace featuring an infinity pool, bar and observation deck, offering sweeping panoramic views of Dubai's world-famous skyline, the Palm Jumeirah and Arabian Gulf.
The emirate of Dubai is already home to the world's six tallest hotels. The 365-metre Ciel will eclipse the 75-storey 356-metre tall Gevora Hotel, which now holds the crown of the world's tallest hotel.
Ciel will also have a Sunset Lounge on 75th floor and Horizon Bar on 77th floor. A luxury spa and health club will be located on the building's 55th floor.
Standout design features include a 300-metre tall atrium with vertically stacked landscaped and naturally ventilated terraces spanning the building's 82 floors, which will provide occupants with shared communal and interactive space.
However, the developer has not yet appointed any hotel management partner for the prestigious project.
"Ciel is The First Group's 18th project in Dubai and the most complex undertaking to-date. This tower will truly be a jewel in the crown of one of the world's most dynamic cities," said Rob Burns, CEO of The First Group.
"Ciel will set a new benchmark for innovative design in super-tall buildings, not just in Dubai, but globally," said Yahya Jan, president and design director for Norr.
