A home is truly your own when you begin to put some love and care into it. Or, in the case of Gitex shoppers, the latest home appliances.
Retailers at Gitex Shopper have reported a steady stream of customers looking to purchase home appliances ranging from fridges and ovens, to coffee machines.
"We are looking for a new stove since the one we have right now is very old," said Parveen Rana, a shopper at the exhibition.
"My husband was told by his friend at work that you can purchase things at Gitex in easy monthly bank installments, so that is what we are going to do."
Many shoppers, like Rana, were taking the opportunity to upgrade their home appliances with the help of easy payment plans, a salesperson at Jacky's noted. Home appliances such as fridges, stoves, and vacuum cleaners were a popular selection among those looking to upgrade their appliances. Other products that were in demand included microwaves and rice cookers.
Many customers said that they had waited especially for the exhibition before making any major purchases, due to the special discounts and bundle offers.
Yusuf Sharzadah, another shopper at the Jumbo stand, said that he was looking for a small vacuum cleaner and perhaps a toaster. "I live in a small apartment with my brother. There are a few good deals here so I will probably end up getting what I came for."
When it came to kitchen appliances, one product continued to dominate sales. Air fryers have been enjoying a surge in popularity ever since their launch in the region, retailers noted. This is mainly because of the shift towards healthier living and eating. Many models are priced between Dh400-Dh500 across the different stands at Gitex.
"With air fryers you need less than a tablespoon of oil, and you can enjoy crispy fried foods such as fries without having to worry about how unhealthy they are," a salesman at the stand explained. "It's indulging without the guilt."
One stand that was continuously drawing the attention of shoppers was the Nescafe Dolce Gusto stand, which is currently selling its coffee machines at a 30 per cent discount, exclusively for the exhibition. "The response has been great, and the machines are favoured not just by people in their offices but also customers who want one in their home," sampling supervisor Intissar Dennaoui said.
