The main objective of the conference is to share best practices around exploitation of big data.
Integration of data is very important to create more value from big data, Teradata Corporation chief technology officer Stephen Brobst told Khaleej Times on the sidelines of annual Terada Universe Conference in Dubai recently.
Now in its fourth year, the conference highlighted the how the global surge in data volumes is changing every major industry and every aspect of consumers’ daily lives, creating the need for analytic solutions for enterprises.
“The main objective [of the conference] is to share best practices around exploitation of big data. Traditional data sources and non-traditional data sources integrated together. So the unified data architecture is very important concept,” Brobst explained.
Teradata Universe also features an Expo Area where attendees had the opportunity to meet and interact with 20 leading Teradata business and technology partners showcasing the latest innovations and services to help enterprises achieve their objectives from big data analytics to enhance business efficiency, create new routes to market and sustain a competitive edge.
The two-day conference, held last week, focused on the changing business dynamics across the rapidly evolving Middle East market. The event features presentations from Teradata experts, customers and partners on trending topics including driving value from big data and the role of big data science within the financial services industry, and increasing profitability with data analytic technology.
Held annually across key markets in Europe, Middle East and South Asia, Teradata Universe brings together business and technical professionals to share insights and best practices to help create true data-driven strategies using a Unified Data Architecture. Over the course of the two-day conference, senior representatives from Teradata will come together with the company’s expansive base of customers, partners and prospects to exchange ideas, highlight challenges and showcase the latest innovations from Teradata available for any industry including telcos, banking, oil and gas, and others.
Talking about top three sectors where the company has more clients in the region, Brobst said it’s mainly telecom across the region is on top, but in the UAE banking sector is on top. But generally, there are telecom, banking and then oil and gas companies.
“We don’t have office in the UAE, but our parent company NCR is here,” he added. -abdulbasit@khaleejtimes.com
