Jumeirah Golf Estates, home to the DP World Tour Championship, announced the development of a new retail centre, which is due to open in September 2016.
The brand-new 45,000 sqft retail centre will feature a new-concept grocery store, restaurant and café. Situated on the edge of the Wildflower development, it is set to be the first retail unit to open in the community, which is already home to more than 700 families.
The project is being developed by DAR Properties and the construction contract has been awarded to City Diamond Contracting. The operations will be managed by Maybury, who has existing stores in Dubai Marina and Abu Dhabi, and offers a more lifestyle-oriented shopping experience for its customers. The Maybury concept is to provide a neighbourhood store stocked with fresh produce, served with staff with great product knowledge and a passion for food.
Yousuf Kazim, chief executive officer of Jumeirah Golf Estates, said, "Adding to the world-class facilities already on offer at Jumeirah Golf Estates, the retail centre will prove to be a valuable addition to the already thriving community. Last year, we were honoured to have Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Emirates airline and Chief Executive of the Emirates Group, open our clubhouse; and to be able to announce the launch of the retail centre demonstrates the tremendous progress Jumeirah Golf Estates continues to make."
This latest development is part of phase one of the Jumeirah Golf Estates' development and follows the recent launch of the Alandalus, a collection of 674 affordable luxury apartments and 54 townhouses. The retail centre will be closely followed by the community centre, which is being developed as part of the Alandalus collection. It will include retail, hospitality and food and beverage outlets.
"The residents of Jumeirah Golf Estates experience a unique lifestyle offering on a daily basis, the addition of a premium grocery store and hospitality outlets adds to that lifestyle. We have already broken ground on this development and look forward to its projected completion this time next year," added Kazim.
Jumeirah Golf Estates is one of the Middle East's most desirable residential and leisure communities, offering buyers and investors a strong incentive to purchase. It is strategically located in the heart of "New Dubai" and only minutes away from Al Maktoum International Airport and the official World Expo 2020 site.
