The Jumeirah Al Ain Hotel will be part of a mixed use retail and hospitality project being built in the city aiming at doubling the retail space of Al Ain Mall to 1.2 million square feet of gross leasable area, or GLA.

At a ceremony on Saturday, Shaikh Hamed bin Ahmed Al Hamed, Executive Vice-Chairman of Al Farida Group, signed a management agreement with Gerald Lawless, Executive Chairman of the Jumeirah Group.

Speaking on the occasion, Gerald Lawless said that with the management agreement with Al Farida, his group has agreed to manage two hotel projects in Abu Dhabi.

The Jumeirah Al Ain Hotel is a five-star facility uniquely designed property featuring 200 rooms, suites, lofts and chalets.

Four in-house restaurants and lounges within the hotel, in addition to outdoor souks, casual dining and cafes scattered, a man-made lake and natural water stream are key features of the development.

Al Farida Investment Company is primarily involved in hospitality and leisure, retail, mixed use residential and commercial real estate and financial investments. The company is also developing another five star hotel complex project in Abu Dhabi due for completion in the last quarter of 2009.

The Jumeirah Group has expansion plans to grow its portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts into key cities worldwide.

Currently, the Group has several luxury five star properties under development in the country, as well as in Jordan, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Bali, China, Argentina, Spain, the United Kingdom and Germany.

The group is anticipating the opening of Jumeirah HanTang Xintiandi in Shanghai this year, its first hotel in the Asia Pacific region.
