Kingfisher to Launch 8 New Overseas Routes

DUBAI - India’s Kingfisher Airlines plans to launch eight new overseas routes including two for Dubai. The carrier’s new service to Dubai comes just one day after flydubai made an embarrassing climb-down on their plans to fly to all three cities in India they had planned for this month.

Adding to its existing Dubai-Bangalore flight launched last month, the airlines said there are plans to expand its offering connecting New Delhi to Dubai and Mumbai to Dubai.

New flights from New Delhi to Bangkok, Mumbai to Bangkok and Mumbai to Colombo are also on the anvil.

The flights on these routes will be operated using the Airbus A320 / A321 aircraft.

“The plan to launch these new services is consistent with our goal of redeploying capacity on routes with better yields compared to domestic sectors,” Prakash Mirpuri, Vice-President, Corporate Communications of the airline said.

Kingfisher Airlines plans to launch two new flights. These routes will be Mumbai-Singapore and Mumbai-Hong Kong. Both will be daily direct return services and will be operated using the brand new Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

Bookings for travel on these sectors are expected to be opened shortly.

The carrier has applied to the Ministry of Civil Aviation to commence operations on the New Delhi-London-New Delhi sector.
