Komatsu, a leading Japanese multinational and manufacturer of construction and earthmoving equipment, has signed an agreement with Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) to develop a new facility, which is scheduled to open in 2018.
This was announced during a ceremony held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the partnership between Komatsu and Galadari Trucks and Heavy Equipment Co. Ltd (GTHE), the exclusive dealer of Komatsu products in the UAE.
A leading name in heavy earthmoving, construction and materials handling equipment in the UAE, GTHE was also awarded the Worldwide Highest Market Share Award by Komatsu. GTHE commands a leading 45 per cent share of the UAE market, and has been honoured with Komatsu's Worldwide Highest Market Share Award twice, in 2014 and in 2016.
Komatsu first signed the distribution agreement with Galadari Brothers in 1977, and has delivered over 8,000 units of equipment in the past 40 years to the UAE market.
"It's an honour to share this milestone with GTHE. I'd like to express my congratulations to all group members since 1977. Galadari has been committed to our product support. We are proud to have contributed to the development of the UAE," said Hisashi Shinozuka, director and senior executive officer, and president of construction and mining equipment and marketing division, Komatsu Ltd.
Shinozuka presented the 40th anniversary memorial plaque to Abdulla Belyoahah and Mohamed Yahya, executive directors at Galadari Brothers Co.
Exclusive dealer
"The partnership of Komatsu and Galadari Brothers is based on a solid foundation of support, continuous improvement and mutual benefits. We pride ourselves as the exclusive dealer of Komatsu machines in the UAE and look forward to a fruitful journey ahead as we cross greater milestones together," said a statement issued on behalf of the Galadari Brothers' executive committee.
"We have achieved a lot of work through this partnership over the past 40 years. We have provided the business community with state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure to help shape the UAE. We thank Komatsu for their support and want to keep this partnership going strong for the future," said Belyoahah.
"On this occasion of our 40th anniversary, we reflect on the long collaboration between Komatsu and GTHE as we look forward to many more years of success in the future. Today is a proud moment for GTHE as we receive the highest worldwide market share award for the second time. It's indeed an honour to receive such a prestigious award as it emphasises the strong partnership between Komatsu, our valued customers and Galadari Brothers, which naturally fuels our momentum to continue with the journey ahead," said Samer Khaled, general manager of GTHE.
"I would like to thank our senior executives and the GTHE team for their continuous efforts and support throughout the years and commitment to providing world-class services to support our machine population in the market. I would also like to thank our valued customers for their contribution and ongoing partnership which has been crucial to our success and undoubtedly contributed to receiving this great award," added Khaled.
Shinozuka, Yahya, Belyoahah and Khaled acknowledged and awarded partners and VIP customers of both GTHE and Komatsu for their ongoing support and contribution to the company's success.
Meanwhile, Kenichi Sato, managing director of Komatsu Middle East FZE (KME), said the new facility in Jafza would span 45,900 square meters and house the Komatsu headquarters, parts warehouse, training centre and operator demonstration area. "The facility will improve productivity and efficiency of our machines through in-depth training and customer support," said Sato.
